NASCO Continental Reunion
After 2+ years in the making, we are excited to finally host the NASCO Reunion in San Luis Potosi. Much consideration and thought have gone into moving forward with an event this year, and we feel confident the Government of SLP will host an exceptional conference and take the necessary health and safety precautions for those willing to travel.
This year will be a hybrid event – you can attend virtually or in-person. The sessions will take place virtually, so if you choose to attend in-person you will be able to watch the sessions with other attendees in the SLP convention center and be there “live” for networking. On the final day, July 23, the Governor of San Luis Potosi will host a closing luncheon for all attendees and the local business community with Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, as the closing keynote.

Welcome + overview
We are pleased to invite you to attend the 2021 North American Strategy for Competitiveness (NASCO) Continental Reunion: Stronger Together as we return to Mexico to highlight the many advantages of the Bajio region! San Luis Potosi is a beautiful, colonial city with a booming industrial region in the heart of Mexico. You won’t want to miss U.S., Canada, and Mexico business and political leaders gathered to discuss the future our North American trading relationships.
The NASCO “Continental Reunion” is unique, as it rotates between Canada, the United States and Mexico each year. We bring together senior political and business leaders from the three countries to address key issues and opportunities for improved cooperation and economic partnership, as well as to deliver innovative perspectives on critical issues pertaining to the future of trade and transportation in North America.
San Luis Potosi is an integral part of the Bajio industrial region, and it has come a long way since its foundation as a mining town in 1592. In 2018, the Bajio region attracted 18.4% of the total foreign direct investment in Mexico, with San Luis Potosi attracting $1.3bn in foreign investment. Manufacturing is the largest sector in the state economy, and represented 26.8% of GDP as of May 2019. Sixty-four new manufacturing businesses entered SLP between 2015 and 2019 - 44 of which were in the automotive industry and eight in the energy sector.
Given the continued focus on the USMCA/CUSMA/T-MEC in all three countries in 2021, the Continental Reunion will be as critically important as ever to our speakers and participants. We additionally will have several “core” panels and speakers addressing what happens next with the new trade agreement in our business communities, energy and automotive sessions, academic and logistics sessions and more.
In late 2018, the five states (San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Querétaro, and Jalisco) that comprise the “Bajio” region united to form the Central Bajio Occidental Alliance. Its main objective is to boost the region’s social and economic development in a collaborative and coordinated way.
Of course, the Continental Reunion is about people and friendship. We have an amazing set of networking and cultural opportunities planned in San Luis Potosi, with a major highlight being an evening dinner in the former state penitentiary - which is now a spectacular arts center!
